Mark your calendar to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation! The Circuit celebration will be on Saturday, October 28, at Zion Lutheran church in Owego.

CARPOOL to Owego: There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the narthex. Please sign up or call the church office if you are able to provide a ride or if you would like a ride to the Circuit Reformation service in Owego next Saturday.

Open House for Rebekah Milbrath, Saturday, October 28, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Milbrath home. This is in celebration of her confirmation which will take place the following day. All are invited!

A Challenge to Trinitarian’s - Next Sunday we observe Reformation Sunday; Reformation, as the LCMS motto reminds us, “It’s Still about Jesus!” We are reminded that next Sunday is also confirmation Sunday for three young confirmands. Pastor Foote issues a challenge to all of our members to worship the Lord on this important day, to give thanks for the clear Gospel, while also honoring and supporting our young confirmands.

Reformation Tuesday (All Hallows Eve), October 31 - Martin Luther posted the 95 theses on this day 500 years ago. To honor that event we will be reading through the 95 theses. Please feel free to join in in the reading, by signing up in the narthex. A list of the 95 theses is also available in the narthex. We will do the reading from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, on Tuesday, October 31 at Trinity.

The Congregation Continually Devoted to Christ: In an effort to be continually devoted to Christ and his Word we will weekly receive the readings from this week’s lectionary, and next week’s lectionary, along with memory verses which correspond to the theme of the day. Each month we will be singing a hymn which is repeated weekly, the lyrics of that hymn will also be sent home. There will also be readings from Luther’s Small Catechism, and a prayer. There is a suggested order of meditation and prayer to follow. Each week the congregation will receive the handout, “The Congregation Continually Devoted to Christ” as they leave the church. The members are encouraged to trust that this will be a great blessing in their daily lives if they follow the design of daily devotions.

2017 Ithaca Pregnancy Center Annual Banquet is Friday, November 17th at Celebrations, 6:00 p.m. This year’s keynote speaker is Stephanie Gray. Stephanie Gray is a seasoned international speaker who has given over 800 pro-life presentations. She is Faculty at Blackstone Legal Fellowship where she trains law students from around the world about conversing persuasively on abortion and is author of two books. Mary Milbrath is hosting a table at the banquet. Please let her know by November 3 if you would like to attend. The banquet is free, but donations for Ithaca Pregnancy Center will be accepted.

Come join us! Would you like to sing and learn to play Christmas carols on the hand chimes to share with the residents at McGraw House on Thursday, December 14, from 7-8 PM? We will be practicing the handchimes after church .. and enjoying a sweet snack! … for a half hour on Sundays: November 12, November 26, December 3, and December 10. (No musical experience needed!) If you just want to join us as a singer (or a musician on a different instrument), meet us at McGraw House on Decemer 14th. Intersted? Talk to Karla Notarianni if you need more information. We’re looking forward to sharing our music.

Transportation Needed: We are blessed to have several college students attending Trinity on Sunday mornings! It would be helpful to have volunteers willing to spin through Cornell campus to give them a ride; some arriving for Bible study at 9 am, others arriving for our 10:30 worship service. Especially helpful would be someone to help coordinate the drivers. If you are willing to serve as a driver, substitute driver, or transportation coordinator, see Sue Schattschneider.

Emergency Update from Lutheran World Relief: The situation in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria remain desperate. Families remain in crisis throughout the island with little access to food, water, and electricity. Unfortunately, this situation is not unfolding in isolation. At the same time: • More than 1,000 people have died from flooding in Nepal and India, which has also washed away crops many poor families depend on to survive. • Several nations in Africa – including South Sudan, which is mired in conflict – are teetering on the brink of famine. • Conflict in the Middle East – particularly in Iraq and Syria – has created a refugee crisis of epic proportions. They are asking for donations, so that together we can reach families in crisis right now. You can donate through our offering plate (memo for “LWR”) or you can mail donations to: Lutheran World Relief, PO Box 17061 Baltimore MD 21297-1061

Are you looking for a way to serve at church? We encourage you to consider serving as usher during our worship services. If you are interested, please see Nancy or an elder for more information. Another opportunity is to sign up for altar duty for one month! This simply involves washing the Communion ware after communion Sundays (usually just twice per month), washing the linens and covering the altar. See Myrth for more information.

Daily Prayer for Individuals and Families prayer cards are now available at no charge. This laminated booklet is perfect for prayer time by yourself or with an unlimited number of people. Keep one in your Bible or hymnal. The prayer litanies included are for Morning, Noon, Early Evening and Close of Day. Pick up one for each member of your family so you can all be on the same page. This is a great booklet to have at your dining table for before or after meals. Daily Prayer can also be found in your hymnal (LSB). Cheryl Cox will be handing them out the next few Sundays or you may contact her to get your copies.

Severe weather policy at Trinity: When weather is questionable, we will try to keep our website up to date on cancellations: Also, feel free to call the church office, we will try to keep the phone message up to date, or call Pastor Foote or an elder. An email was sent out last Wednesday to all members and friends of Trinity on our email list. If you did not receive the email (from Nancy Gifft), please let us know so we can add you to our list. If you don’t use e-mail, please let us know that too, and we will ask your elder to give you a phone call with updates.

Church Flowers: The flower chart for this year is posted by the kitchen door across from our library. The cost of the flower arrangements is still only $20. You can take the flowers home after the service, but please return the vase for reuse. Please make a note of any dedication you would like printed in the bulletin.

Sign up to help with altar guild. This involves simply covering the altar and chairs after services, storing the paraments under the pulpit, and washing communion ware on communion Sundays (usually 2 per month). We ask you to sign up for just one month of service! A sign-up sheet is posted on the Trinity bulletin board. See Myrth Guest if you have questions.

Volunteer opportunities at Trinity… full descriptions of the responsibilities are in the notebook on the shelf in the narthex.  A brief summary is below:
