Lent will be here soon!  Ash Wednesday is February 14.  Our Ash Wednesday service will begin at 7:00 p.m. (No supper is served before the Ash Wednesday service; suppers will start the following week.)

Again this year we will offer supper before our Wednesday services, beginning February 21.  If you, your group, or friends would like to host a supper, please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex.  If you have questions, see Sue Schattschneider or call the church office.

Continually Devoted to Christ: Please be sure to pick up our Continually Devoted to Christ weekly home devotion booklets.  Use them for your family or personal devotions.  Each sheet includes excerpts from Luther’s Small Catechism, congregation prayers and the Lord’s Prayer, verses from the hymn-of-the-month, and the readings for the next week.

Your giving statement for 2017 is in your family folder in the narthex. Those who made a pledge in 2016 will find their unopened pledge envelope in with the year-end statement.

Join a Bible study! Opportunities include: Gospel of Mark and Paul’s epistles Sunday morning at 9:00; home Bible study at Myrth Guest’s house the second Wednesday of the month at noon, and the Men’s Prayer Breakfast the first Saturday of each month.

What can North American Christians learn about Jesus from Christians, Jews, and Muslims living in Israel today? Come and see! Saturday, February 17 from 9 AM – 12 Noon, when we welcome Daniel Walter (Herb Israel’s grandson) who is living in Israel with his family. Lunch will follow.

LUTHERAN WOMENS MISSIONARY LEAGUE / LWML The Eastern District LWML wants to thank all who have made charitable contributions through their Mite Boxes, and report that they have paid three of the eight Grant requests approved at the last convention and that two more will soon be paid. That means that there are still three of the eight that must be paid within the next two months for a total of $16,500.00. It is recognized that there have been many requests for help due to tornados, hurricanes, fires and floods this year. Among the three requests waiting to be paid is a $5,000.00 request by Orphan Grain Train, an organization with which many of us are familiar. In conclusion, please bring the coins in your Little Blue Mite Box to church and empty them into the Big Blue Mite Box in the foyer at your earliest convenience. Questions - ask Vivian or Marti

Mark your calendar for a fun afternoon! All are welcome!

Please check with Karla N if you’d like more information!

Save the Date! Women’s Candlelight Dinner: “Celebration of Music” is the theme for the 15th Annual Women’s Candlelight Dinner, scheduled for Sunday, March 11, at 5:30 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. All women age 13 and up are invited and guests are welcome as well. Sign up now to bring a dish to share or hostess a table. Kyla Perry is our featured speaker, and Karla Notarianni will be playing chamber music as people arrive for dinner. Both of these women are in the music profession. We are richly blessed to have them worshipping with us and contributing to the program this year. You can take part in the program too! We will be requesting ladies to sing along with Kyla in a women’s chorus directed by Lisa Thompson. All in all, we promise you a spiritually rewarding evening.

Keeping with tradition, men and children are invited to come to the home of Bob and Linda Terry at 107 Worth Street in Ithaca, also at 5:30 p.m., for a pizza party.

Ithaca Pregnancy Bottle Drive: Please feel free to take home a baby bottle and fill it with loose change this month as a fund raiser for the Ithaca Pregnancy Centers. You may also put in a check made payable to Cortland and Ithaca Pregnancy Centers and they will send you a receipt for your tax return. IPC helps save lives through ultra sounds and counseling; they also provide education, Bible classes and help for post-abortive women, and share the Gospel whenever they can. Please consider supporting as you are able. Bottles are due back March 15th.

Our flower chart for 2018 is posted by the kitchen door. Sign up if you would like to sponsor an arrangement for a Sunday this year. Note the dedication you would like, or contact the church office ahead of time so it can be printed in the bulletin.

A DAILY LUTHERAN BIBLE STUDY... Issues, Etc. is a radio talk show and podcast produced by Lutheran Public Radio in Collinsville, IL and hosted by LCMS Pastor Todd Wilken. This week's topics include: Lutheran Piety, The Movies "Darkest Hour" & "The Greatest Showman," Original Sin, Peter & Cornelius and more. You can listen live or at your convenience at and on the Lutheran Public Radio mobile app.

Transportation Needed: We are blessed to have several college students attending Trinity on Sunday mornings! It would be helpful to have volunteers willing to spin through Cornell campus to give them a ride; some arriving for Bible study at 9 am, others arriving for our 10:30 worship service. Especially helpful would be someone to help coordinate the drivers. If you are willing to serve as a driver, substitute driver, or transportation coordinator, see Sue Schattschneider.

Are you looking for a way to serve at church? We encourage you to consider serving as usher during our worship services. If you are interested, please see Nancy or an elder for more information. Another opportunity is to sign up for altar duty for one month! This simply involves washing the Communion ware after communion Sundays (usually just twice per month), washing the linens and covering the altar. See Myrth for more information.

Daily Prayer for Individuals and Families prayer cards are now available at no charge. This laminated booklet is perfect for prayer time by yourself or with an unlimited number of people. Keep one in your Bible or hymnal. The prayer litanies included are for Morning, Noon, Early Evening and Close of Day. Pick up one for each member of your family so you can all be on the same page. This is a great booklet to have at your dining table for before or after meals. Daily Prayer can also be found in your hymnal (LSB). Cheryl Cox will be handing them out the next few Sundays or you may contact her to get your copies.

Severe weather policy at Trinity: When weather is questionable, we will try to keep our website up to date on cancellations: Also, feel free to call the church office, we will try to keep the phone message up to date, or call Pastor Foote or an elder. An email was sent out last Wednesday to all members and friends of Trinity on our email list. If you did not receive the email (from Nancy Gifft), please let us know so we can add you to our list. If you don’t use e-mail, please let us know that too, and we will ask your elder to give you a phone call with updates.

Church Flowers: The flower chart for this year is posted by the kitchen door across from our library. The cost of the flower arrangements is still only $20. You can take the flowers home after the service, but please return the vase for reuse. Please make a note of any dedication you would like printed in the bulletin.

Sign up to help with altar guild. This involves simply covering the altar and chairs after services, storing the paraments under the pulpit, and washing communion ware on communion Sundays (usually 2 per month). We ask you to sign up for just one month of service! A sign-up sheet is posted on the Trinity bulletin board. See Myrth Guest if you have questions.

Volunteer opportunities at Trinity… full descriptions of the responsibilities are in the notebook on the shelf in the narthex.  A brief summary is below:

Coffee Hour Hosts Needed: As we continue to strive to follow church-building as in Acts 2:42, 45, this year we are devoting to Fellowship!  To that end, please sign up to host a fellowship-coffee hour!  It is simple and is greatly appreciated.  A sign up sheet is in the narthex, along with directions.

Email Notification List: We are planning to start a group list for email notification of special events. If you would like to be included on this list, please fill in the following form or send you name and email address to
