To help us plan enough food and books, RSVP would be helpful. ( One of the authors, Dr. Gene Veith, will be in Ithaca October 26-27. He will speak at Cornell that Friday the 26th and at our Circuit Reformation service in Owego on Saturday.

Mining the Minor Prophets! When was the last time you read Zephaniah or Hosea? Probably not for a long time, and maybe never! This fall come prepared to learn about the exciting and challenging spiritual times of men like Amos and Jonah, and the nations of Israel, Judah, Assyria, Philistia, Babylon, Media-Persia, Egypt and other places. Discover how there are similar cultural trends in today's world, along with very dissimilar cultural, social and religious practices. The study of the minor prophets is team taught by Pastor Foote, education chairman Herb Israel, and trained deaconess Cheryl Cox.

FMSC Mobile Pack: We have reserved a block of packing time for the Ithaca Mobile Pack! Please sign up on the bulletin board if you would like to join your Trinity friends on Sunday, October 14, from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m. The Sunday afternoon block filled up quickly, so we have reserved a second packing time for Trinity:  Friday, October 12, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. (Milbraths’ home school group will be there at that time too.) Sign up in the narthex or on-line (Join Code: 1515791) to reserve your spot! The pack will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church. See Mary Milbrath or Nancy if you have questions.

LWML: All Ladies are invited to the LWML Fall Event at Grace Lutheran Church in Vestal. September 29, at 10:00 am, with a presentation by Grace’s Praise band, and followed by a salad/sandwich buffet luncheon. There will be a collection for items needed by the residents of Mercy House of the Southern Tier. In-gathering suggestions include K-cups, small bottled water, mini-moos, paper towels, and body lotion. See Geri Anderson for more information.

Lutheran Womens' Missionary League / LWML: Remember to drop your pennies and loose coins into an LWML Mite Box.  Based on the Biblical account of the widow's mite (Luke 21:1–4), the Mite Box is used to collect your small offerings, or “mites”, and are used to fund grants through Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. The Eastern District LWML has paid three of the eight grant requests that were approved at the last convention.  Your “mites” do mighty work!  See Vivian or Marti for more information or to get your own mite box.

Our flower chart for 2018 is posted by the kitchen door. Sign up if you would like to sponsor an arrangement for a Sunday this year. Note the dedication you would like, or contact the church office ahead of time so it can be printed in the bulletin.

Are you looking for a way to serve at church? We encourage you to consider serving as usher during our worship services. If you are interested, please see Nancy or an elder for more information. Another opportunity is to sign up for altar duty for one month! This simply involves washing the Communion ware after communion Sundays (usually just twice per month), washing the linens and covering the altar. See Myrth for more information.

Daily Prayer for Individuals and Families prayer cards are now available at no charge. This laminated booklet is perfect for prayer time by yourself or with an unlimited number of people. Keep one in your Bible or hymnal. The prayer litanies included are for Morning, Noon, Early Evening and Close of Day. Pick up one for each member of your family so you can all be on the same page. This is a great booklet to have at your dining table for before or after meals. Daily Prayer can also be found in your hymnal (LSB). Cheryl Cox will be handing them out the next few Sundays or you may contact her to get your copies.

Severe weather policy at Trinity: When weather is questionable, we will try to keep our website up to date on cancellations: Also, feel free to call the church office, we will try to keep the phone message up to date, or call Pastor Foote or an elder. An email was sent out last Wednesday to all members and friends of Trinity on our email list. If you did not receive the email (from Nancy Gifft), please let us know so we can add you to our list. If you don’t use e-mail, please let us know that too, and we will ask your elder to give you a phone call with updates.

Church Flowers: The flower chart for this year is posted by the kitchen door across from our library. The cost of the flower arrangements is still only $20. You can take the flowers home after the service, but please return the vase for reuse. Please make a note of any dedication you would like printed in the bulletin.
