Our Worship Practices

Trinity Lutheran Church holds a weekly service at 10:30am every Sunday morning. (see Summer Worship, below). The service is traditional, and is generally taken from the new Lutheran Service Book. Trinity is a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

What to expect in worship

Trinity follows a traditional worship which is based upon ancient worship forms from the time of Christ. The “liturgy” is an order of worship that puts Biblical verses to music in song and chant. We also profess our faith in the words of the “creeds” - brief statements of faith that originate from the time very close to the life and ministry of Christ. And of course we sing hymns, both new and old. We use both organ and keyboard most weeks, and have a variety of instrumentalists play throughout each church season. If you are gifted in music and would like to play in worship, speak with Lisa Thompson, our music director. Lutheran worship centers around Word and sacrament (sacred acts). Each service includes readings from the Old Testament and the New Testament, and there is usually a message related to one of the readings.

Worship typically lasts from 10:30 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., some weeks it is longer, because of the celebration of Holy Communion, and some weeks it is shorter. We celebrate Holy Communion, the first, third, and fifth Sundays. Christians that are baptized and have a Lutheran understanding of this sacrament are welcomed to the table of the Lord. If you are not sure about receiving Communion but you would like to, please speak with the pastor or an elder before service. For those who desire to receive Communion on a regular basis, classes are offered to help understand the nature of this sacramental gift, and receive the full benefit from the Lord's Supper. The second and fourth Sunday usually include a children's sermon.

Trinity also has midweek worship during the season of Lent, in the spring, and Advent, in December.

Summer Worship Schedule

From Sunday, June 5th through August 28th, we will move to a summer worship/Bible study schedule. The church service will begin at 9:15am. There will be no Bible Study hour. The service schedule returns to the normal 10:30am service on Sunday, September 4th.

Nursery Services

Trinity Lutheran Church has a nursery available during the worship service for children ages birth to age 4. Church members staff this bright, warm and nurturing nursery and provide parents with pagers if they need to be reached. Volunteers are welcome!
